OpenText: Webroot Total Protection product design

Consumer Digital Life Protection

OpenText acquired Total Defense, a Windows security product similar to Webroot. I provided UX leadership to consolidate this product into Webroot Total Protection, a new UX for Mac and Windows, focused on delivering a modernized, modular set of features paired with OpenText’s BrightCloud threat detection AI.

Leading the UI design effort, my team and I rapidly researched UI design patterns we liked that aligned to the Mac and Windows human interface guidelines. Our goal was to deliver a new UI design pattern that works well across each desktop platform. We also explored using APCA color contrast method combined with WCAG standards for accessibility.

The successful launch improved modularity of product features and vastly improved the accessibility of the legacy product’s UI visual design.

We continue to explore opportunities to ensure we’re delivering a more user-centered product design strategy as we research potential for learning language models (LLMs) as part of an effort to making smarter software for people who don’t want to think or worry about online threats to their family.
